Shortage of space

BARRIERS/OBSTACLES FACED
The allotted space for development was hindered due to a lack of space and the presence of fully grown trees. Additionally, the invert level on the said space was below 3 mtrs.

SOLUTION PROVIDED BY ULE
After analysis it was concluded that the area had only half the space required for the STP. It was hence suggested that we benefit from the invert level by positioning the tanks one above the other.

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS PROVIDED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM
The tanks were positioned one on top of another. In this way each tank came with access for ease of maintenance.

In addition to this, on the builders specifications the manhole was positioned inside the pump room so as to avoid unsightly excesses in the adjoining parking area.This resulted in saving 5 to 6 parking areas.

Dowel left as per previous vendors drawing, they had cancelled his order and placed it with us.

The tank dimensions of the previous vendors were large than ours

SOLUTION PROVIDED BY ULE
We placed over tanks in such a way that it adjusted to the dowels and at the same time reduced the footprint area by 50% of the previous STP. Here special attention was paid to saving space and to match the dowels. Hence reducing the civil cost and the left our area was used for parking purpose.

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS PROVIDED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM
We planned the rotation of the civil tanks without compromising on the design basis and the process .

To shift the treatment facility below the ramp area

BARRIERS/OBSTACLES FACED
The treatment plant was relocated to a location below the basement ramp. This meant that it met invert levels and that excavation and execution of civil work was made easy.

SOLUTION PROVIDED BY ULE
To save on civil construction, costs and time we suggested that the project be partially above ground.

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS PROVIDED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM
The partial below and partial above ground system provided natural air and light ventilation which saved capital as well as operational costs of forced ventilation and lighting. Eventually our recommendations led to the effective use of unused space.

CLIENT REQUIREMENT/ISSUE/QUERY
Existing STP, they had installed the MS prefabricated sewage treatment which was above ground. Further, plans to utilize the area near the bungalows was hindered due to high noise levels and the feasibility of the project was questioned.

BARRIERS/OBSTACLES FACED
They had to go for reapprovals from the municipal council.

SOLUTION PROVIDED BY ULE
We provided underground system with minimal footprint area. The expenses were recovered by selling the MS structure in scrap and also space was planned in such a way that an additional bungalow could fit in it , which generated revenue. Hence the developer decided to go for reapprovals.

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS PROVIDED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM
The present MS structure was demolished along with existing pump room area and underground tanks.The system was designed on the basis of zero noise level. All submersible pumps were used which reduced the footprint area of the pump room. In the pump room only filter vessels, panel and disinfection system was installed.

Single tank process with submerged aerators, fixed decanters were given to decant the treated water through pump which was then filterer through filtration. The submerged aspirators reduced the noise level.

CLIENT REQUIREMENT/ISSUE/QUERY
Existing STP received notices from the Thane Municipal Corporation as people had complaints about noise levels and non performance.

BARRIERS/OBSTACLES FACED
The loud noise of the blowers was disturbing residents as the building was close enough to the STP room.

SOLUTION PROVIDED BY ULE
Surface ejector with low noise level below 40db were installed

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS PROVIDED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM
There were design errors which were corrected . 1. A distrubution system was given in the aeration tank which led the raw sewage to the bottom of the tank.This ensured proper contact time and reduced short circuit issues in the aeration tank. Further assuring good degradation of waste. 2. The media was introduced to absorb the shock loads and the load fluctuations in the system. This ensured consistant results. 3. The clarifier mechanism was repaired and made operational , the blades at the bottom were on the higher side so we fixed rubber pads in such a way that the sludge was scrapped easily and diverted to the sludge cone properly from where it was effectively cleared or recycled. The scraper arm was getting obstructions while rotating due to uneven civil work so we had to zcut a small portion of it to avoid friction while rotation 4. The arrangement of valves on the frontal piping of the vessels was changed. A rinse valve was provided which enabled proper backwash of the vessels.

No area was left for the treatment plant and they wanted to go for Green Certification.

BARRIERS/OBSTACLES FACED
Low Cost Housing hence low investment, low maintenance and less recurring cost waste water treatment plant needed.

SOLUTION PROVIDED BY ULE
For space planning we suggested plant below the garden area,to minimize the maintenance cost we divided the flow into two parts, grey i.e. bathroom waste water treatment system and Black i.e. toilet waste water treatment system.

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS PROVIDED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM
The plant was placed below ground in garden area, the equipments were designed in such a way that even during rain they were safe and durable. To minimize the operating cost we designed the system and its operations on automation. Layout was arranged in such a way that the Garden area was saved and also free space was kept for the fire vehicle to move around.
